Picking your piece
Picking your piece can be the most difficult part of the process. So we at Ounce Upon A Time, try to make that decision a little more easier by naming each product after real client and first mama that purchased the setting. We have a whole collection of pieces that are unnamed as well! To make it an even more unique experience we offer this collection to those who cant decide on the perfect setting and wants to take a chance at a custom piece.
Sending your sentiments
If you thought picking your piece was difficult, this next part may be one of the most emotional parts. Though it is an emotional part it is fairly an easy process. We never ask you to send your last bits of sentiments. If you are sending Breastmilk we require 1 ounce but we can work on that with you if you cannot provide that much. Once your purchase is made you will receive a more detailed list on how to send your sentiments. Basically you would measure out the recommended amount, if you’re sending Breastmilk it must be in a breast milk storage baggie(double bagged) For any other sentiments You may send these in regular storage/sandwich baggies all labeled with last name and order number and all sentiments placed in a bubble mailer. Be advised that our shipping method is the basic way to ship, in order to be financially accommodating but you are welcome to ship priority or more expensively if it fits your budget. Never ship your sentiments less then our suggested way of shipping which is first class and with tracking.
Preserving your Breastmilk
The most important part of this process is preserving your Breastmilk. Without this step your stone would deteriorate and mold. Whether You choose Ounce Upon A Time or another company to make your keepsakes, always make sure that they are preserving your breast milk. There are many different ways to preserve Breastmilk but here we do this by A special formulated preservation powder and heat. This solidifies your Breastmilk into a paste that takes time to dry out. Once completely dried, we then ground the contents into powder form. The Breastmilk powder is mixed with a hardener. In our case we use a high grade jewelers resin. It’s such a beautiful process to watch and you can watch us preserve your breastmilk “LIVE” on our Facebook page every Monday for “MILKY MONDAY”
Making and casting your stone
This part goes hand in hand with preserving your breast milk. We take your now powdered Breastmilk mix it with that high-grade jewelers resin and hand-form it into the perfect fitting stone for the setting you chose. Casting your stone is quite simple because it is specifically formed to that setting, we just pop it in and add a seal coat to make sure your stone stays in place!
The most exciting part
Finally! The anticipation is coming to an end! Throughout this whole process you are able to track your orders progress on our order status page! You will also get weekly updates whenever our order status page is updated so make sure to subscribe for that at the bottom of our website! Before your finished pieces are shipped they go into the processing stage. the processing stage is two-four week wait till you receive your address confirmation and shipped email! From that shipped email it should be about 2 to 5 business days till you receive your beautiful keepsakes in a bright pink perfectly packaged box to keep those precious pieces safe!
